ÂWelcome!
JESUS'greatest desire is for you and me to experience the best quality of life available through Him. He said, "I am come that you might have life...more abundantly"
"Interruptions"
Interruption! No one likes interruptions. Interruptions cause anxieties and frustrations. We make plans. Something happens and interrupts the time and energy we spent planning. We experience a change in plans, schedules, and face new challenges as a result. We face major and minor decisions. How do we handle interruption? Jesus constantly faced interruptions. He even became an interruption Himself. The religious leaders sought to permanently interrupt Jesus' plans. Jesus faced interruptions for you and me. He faced them with His eye on His goal - our salvation. Interruption never deterred Him. He used interruptions by the religious leaders and others to further His goal. Today, we face a major interruption in our plans. As a Christian, I will face interruption with faith in Jesus. He faced it for my sake. I will face it for His sake. I will face interruption with confidence and move beyond it with assurance for the future. Like Paul, "I will press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." (Phil. 3:14)
“What the Eye Beholds the Body Absorbs”
What the eyes behold the body absorbs. Everything we see affects our body and who we are. Personally, I love to see a beautiful sunrise and gorgeous sunset. Don’t you? What I see awe-inspires me and I feel good all over. When I see people suffering with major illness, drugs, marital infidelity, an unexpected loss, I feel sympathy and sadness. Seeing good enhances my life. Seeing bad drains me of good feelings. Why would I desire to see anything else but good? Yet, many spend hours seeing what they shouldn’t see and suffer the consequences. As a Christian, I want to see what makes me a better follower of Jesus Christ. When I look, I want to see Jesus in what I see. If I do, what I see will draw me closer to Him and I will absorb Him into my very soul for good.
“Keep Your Chin Up”
When you face a major dilemma and someone tells you, “Keep your chin up!”, do they really mean it or say the words to make you feel good? Maybe, they want you to “take it on the chin” and move on. Maybe, they feel you should stop weeping and feeling sorry for yourself and get with it. They probably don’t understand you or what you face. Yet, they seem to know what’s best for you. “Keep your chin up!” Can we “keep our chin up” when we face circumstances, which overwhelm us and seem impossible to overcome? As Christians, only one way exists to “keep our chin up” under the circumstances. The farther our chin is up, the closer our eyes will be toward heaven. As we raise our chin, our head moves up and our heart sees the answer to our major dilemma. We see Jesus and by trusting Him, we not only keep our chin up we see the One who knows us best. He understands, knows what we face and walks us through our dilemma. Keep your chin up. Don’t look down. Look to the One, who loves you - Jesus!
Here for You
You hear it on TV and see it in the paper. “We are here for you and always will be.” They desire to help us return to “normal”, when we reach the other side of the Pandemic. Whatever we need, all we have to do is contact them and they will be there to help. Good to know and pleasing to the ear. BUT, will they or can they really help us return to a somewhat normal way of life? Providing our physical needs may help for a while, but can they meet our long- term needs? Can they help restore our confidence in venturing out into the community, shopping, going to sports events, going on vacations, traveling on the roads or on cruise ships again? Can they help us deal with uncertainty and the unknown? They mean well, but can only go so far. I know someone who says, “I am here for you and always will be” and mean what he says. He can help when others can’t. All we need to do is contact him and he will meet our need with an inexhaustible supply of resources. I hear it from other Christians and read it in the Bible. Jesus promises to be with us every step of the way, always there to help. “I will never leave you!” He says. “Come unto me all ye who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.” We can’t trust the world to be there when we need them. We trust God! (Proverbs 3:5; Jeremiah 17:7) “Here now and forever!”
